FAQs

Will this water pump damage my Makita batteries?

No. The mellif water pump includes a built-in battery management and protection system that helps prevent over-discharge, over-current, and short circuits. When the battery reaches a low-voltage threshold, the system automatically stops operation to help protect your Makita batteries and maximize their lifespan.

Do I need to manually add water to prime the pump before using it?

No. This is a Self-Priming Pump that starts automatically without the hassle of manual priming, making water transfer quick and effortless.

How much water can this pump move, and will the flow decrease with height?

Our pump pushes up to 358 GPH (Gallons Per Hour) with a maximum head height of 60 FT and a suction lift of up to 6 FT. Like all water pumps, flow rate naturally decreases as pumping height (head height) increases due to gravity. At ground level, it drains water fast; even when pumping up to 10–15 FT high, it maintains strong, steady pressure.

💡 Pro Tip: Keep your suction hose as short as possible and elevate the pump close to the water source for maximum output!

Can it pump pond water with sediment, leaves, or slightly dirty basement water? Will the filter clog easily?

Yes. The pump features a filter that helps prevent leaves, sediment, and other debris from entering the pump. It can handle lightly dirty pond water and basement water. For best performance, clean the filter regularly and remove large debris before use.

Is the battery safe from water splashes while draining pools or flooded areas?

it’s well-protected! Designed specifically for outdoor and emergency water transfer, our pump features a Water-Resistant Battery Cover that seals your Mk 18V battery safely inside. Plus, it includes a built-in 2-gear LED flashlight (Level I: 100 lm / Level II: 200 lm), making it super easy and safe to clear flooded basements, dark yards, or water tanks at night!

Can I use my standard garden hose, or will the inlet hose collapse?

Outlet Side: YES! Our pump standard thread is 1/2" NPT Male to 3/4" NH (U.S. standard), which perfectly fits any standard 3/4" garden hose.

Inlet (Suction) Side: NO for soft hoses! The strong suction power creates negative pressure. Standard soft vinyl or thin rubber garden hoses will collapse and block the water intake.

👉 Requirement: Always use a heavy-duty reinforced, non-collapsible suction hose for the inlet to ensure continuous water flow!

What does the 5-year warranty cover?

Our 5-year warranty covers defects in materials and workmanship under normal use. This includes issues such as motor failures, electrical component defects, and product malfunctions caused by manufacturing problems.

The warranty does not cover normal wear-and-tear parts, such as blades, brushes, filters, seals, or other consumable components that naturally wear out during use. Damage caused by misuse, accidents, improper maintenance, or unauthorized modifications is also not covered.
